By moving the competition to a virtual platform, we aim to provide an opportunity for accordionists from around the world to participate without the burden of high travel and accommodation costs. Vladislav Zolotaryov, a composer who made significant contributions to the accordion, holds an important place in the instrument's history. As the accordion holds a special place in the cultural identity of many countries , Zolotaryov's legacy serves as a unifying force that connects accordionists worldwide. Through this online competition, we celebrate the diversity and unity of accordion music, honoring Zolotaryov's contribution to the instrument and bringing together musicians from all corners of the globe.

Vladislav Zolotaryov, who died young and by his own hand in 1975, wrote with great understanding for the accordion. His melodies are of the very simplest, often shortbreathed, with repetitive ostinato accompaniment figures, but they effectively tap the instrument's folk roots.
